ACESDA – Grant for Inviting Local Collaborators to ACESDA Events 2025
Summary
For the first time, ACESDA is launching a new funding stream to enable members to sponsor young researchers, students, and other knowledge-exchange profiles based in the African countries where we work.
If you are an ACESDA member, will be organising a scientific event in the next six months in your African country of intervention, and wish to fund local colleagues to facilitate their participation in your activities, you can apply for this grant.
Grants will be awarded for the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Some grants are nominal per country, while others may be flexibly allocated across different countries.

Application Process, Eligibility and Criteria
• Maximum of two grants per member; a separate form must be submitted for each application.
• Each member will decide, using internal criteria, which person(s) will receive the awarded grant(s), and these criteria must be reported in the ACESDA activity report.
• If nominal-country grants remain unawarded, the application period will be extended.
• For non-nominal grants, the evaluation committee will aim for an even distribution among countries, balancing with the number of applications whenever possible.
• Beneficiaries must submit an ACESDA activity report within 30 days of the event, acknowledging the funding received and including ACESDA-provided logos in all event promotional materials and in the credits/acknowledgements of any resulting resources.
ACESDA – Beca para la Participación en Eventos Científicos en España 2025
Summary
With the aim of increasing the visibility of scientific work developed by Spanish researchers in Africa and promoting academic and scientific collaboration between Spain and Southern Africa, the ACESDA Grant for Participation in Scientific Events in Spain 2025 supports ACESDA members residing in Southern African countries to attend scientific events held in Spain.
This grant is primarily intended for applicants who will present results, experiences, or proposals developed in African contexts. Applications will be assessed based on the potential impact of participation, alignment with ACESDA’s objectives, and overall feasibility of the activity. The number of grants awarded will depend on budget availability.

Early-Career Talent Alkebulan Award 2024 / ACE del Sur de Africa - frA
Summary
This award aims to recognise the extraordinary research trajectory of both one early-career ACE del Sur de Africa associate and one early-career researcher from Angola, Botswana, Comores, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia or Zimbaue. This is organised by ACE del Sur de Africa in collaboration with the Embassies of the Kingdom of Spain in Southern Africa, and it is sponsored by the Ramón Areces Foundation (frA).

Summary
In order to boost relations between Spanish and Southern African tertiary institutions—facilitating the exchange of both students and staff members, initiating high-quality research projects, and consolidating previously productive collaborations—the ACE Sur de África – frA + Embassies of Spain Visiting Lecturers Grants Program 2025 is intended for six faculty members from universities or research institutions located in Spain to visit universities or research institutions in Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
These grants are awarded by the Society of Spanish Researchers in Southern Africa (ACE Sur de África) and are sponsored by the Ramón Areces Foundation (frA) and the Embassies of Spain in Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

SOUTHERN AFRICA - TO - SPAIN: VISITING LECTURERS GRANT ZIMBABWE, ZAMBIA, MALAWI
Summary
In order to foster academic and scientific exchange between Spanish institutions and the Southern African region and to strengthen institutional collaboration and national scientific capacity, the 2025 Southern Africa to Spain Visiting Lecturers Grant ACESDA Embassy of Spain in Zimbabwe is intended for highly regarded professors and researchers affiliated with universities or research centres in Zimbabwe, Zambia or Malawi.
This grant is awarded by ACESDA and funded by the Embassy of Spain in Zimbabwe. It will support a visit to Spain by one academic from one of the three eligible countries. Priority will be given to proposals with strong academic, institutional or social impact.

II Premio Fernando Albericio al mejor artículo científico publicado por un investigador español en el Sur de África.
Summary
Entendiendo como algunos de sus objetivos fundacionales prioritarios la difusión, visibilidad y prestigio internacionales de las investigaciones realizadas por personas de nacionalidad española en el Sur de África, la Asociación de Científicos Españoles del Sur de África (ACE Sur de África), en colaboración con las Embajadas de España en la región, convoca la Segunda Edición del Premio Fernando Albericio al mejor artículo científico publicado por un investigador español en el Sur de África durante el año 2024.
El premio consistirá en una dotación económica de 100 EUROS junto con el pago de los gastos locales derivados de la asistencia al Foro de Investigación España – Sur de África 2024 a fin de aumentar la visibilidad del trabajo de investigación premiado.
